I think there were a lot of great points in this paper. The three that I chose were:

Faculty Must Be Prepared To Meet the Special Requirements of Teaching at a Distance:

I have been seeing this a lot right now where the institution or company pushes to get online courses to save or even make money but have not prepared the faculty to feel competent about teaching at a distance. Many teachers or facilitators switching over to online courses think it will be less work, which as we have learned in this class, is far from the truth.

Students Must Fully Understand Course Requirements and Be Prepared To Succeed:

This is the other half of the challenge of online courses. Sometimes students don’t have the background technological knowledge to readily succeed. And these requirements are not always stated clearly at the beginning of a course, or on the website in a clear concise manner.

Faculty Should Retain Creative Control over Use and Re-Use of Materials:

I think this is very important. The students can tell if the professor has not created the content of a class or not had the creative license to make it their own. Giving faculty creative control makes for greater sincerity during lectures and increased confidence in the content.
