The proposed lesson will incorporate document sharing, polls, video sharing, chats, audio discussions, and file uploads.

Document sharing will be used to present the PowerPoint presentation. This feature will be used to review material from the previous Connect session and to introduce participants to some new questioning strategies. The PowerPoint allows the instructor to address the needs of different learners by providing a visual complement to the voice over instruction.

Polls will be used to assess participants’ retention and understanding of material presented during a previous Connect session. Based on the results of the poll, the instructor will decide how much time to spend reviewing the previous session’s material before introducing new topics. This feature allows the instructor to be more responsive to the needs of the students.

Video will be incorporated into the lesson in order to give participants an opportunity to immediately apply their knowledge to a real world scenario. They will be asked to identify some of the questioning strategies that they learned about during the PowerPoint presentation.

Audio discussions will be used to allow participants to share their observations of the video clip. Students will be asked to “raise their hands” when they want to respond to a question or make a comment. The instructor will then grant microphone rights to selected students. In order to encourage participation, the instructor may also call on students who do not raise their hands. The chat pod will also be used for the class discussion segment. This will allow students who may not have a microphone to participate. The chat pod also allows the instructor to pose a question to all students and quickly see their responses. Throughout the discussions, the instructor will model effective questioning strategies.

Following the discussion segments, students will have the opportunity to download additional resources via a file share pod. These resources will include research articles related to questioning, additional tips for implementing effective questioning, and examples of different types of questioning strategies. These additional resources help address the varying needs of individual students in the course. They are useful to both less experienced participants who wish to learn more about questioning strategies, as well as experienced participants who would like to refresh their knowledge.

The entire session will be recorded so that participants can review the content of the presentations and discussions on their own time.
