Why is it important for online learners to be part of a community?

For online learners, being apart of a community creates a bond that allows learners to share different viewpoints with each other. It creates a connection between the focus of our individual goals and other learner's goals, making them shared goals where we can be apart of something bigger than what we might have thought together as one.

What strategies and techniques are best to establish and maintain that online community?

Shared Goals: If the goals are shared amongst other learners than the goals can focused in on by everyone and not just one person.

Collaboration: Working together is a good way to complete any task. It can be broken down into smaller parts and then combined together to make work less harder, but more efficient.

Respectful Inclusion: Everybody being treated as equals, recognizing and appreciating each others differences.

Mutual Appropriation: Everyone on the same page learning from each other.
