Facilitation 2- How to cook a proper steak
The overall goal of this course is to be able to properly cook a steak so that it is not dry and to the preferred doneness for the people you are cooking for. This facilitation will be used to educate the learner on how to pick good meat. It will also showcase a few types of ways of cooking their steak as well as tips in cooking it well. We will finish off the subject with how to determine when the steak is done.
The objectives for the course are that the learner will be able to
• Determine when a steak is rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well done.
• use the finger tip method for determining doneness.
Part 1: Picking your steak
We will go over a few basics about how to pick a good steak.
Part 2: Methods for cooking your steak
We will discuss types of cooking your steak and have a brief discussion about how they are best preferred.
Part 3: Cooking your steak
Determining when a steak is actually done is much easier than it looks, but the problem is that people often check their meat in a fashion that will make the meat very dry.
Part 4: Conclusion/Discussion
This portion will be used to sum up everything we have discussed, but it will also be used to have a short discussion about their the participants’ methods of cooking as well as some common mistakes that they may not have even known about.
