Description of Learner Content for Facilitation Exercise 1

The lesson content to be featured for the Adobe Connect session is based on a 5-week course on the topic of Editing Digital Photos when using Photoshop and will specifically cover Digital Image File Formats session. The overall goal of this specific lesson is to teach the learners a basic understanding of Digital Image File formats. This lesson will start with a session about some basic concepts as well as some technical knowledge of the most commonly used Digital Image File Types.

The objectives I would like the learners to accomplish by the end of the Lesson are:

1. The learner will know the difference between a vector based image and a pixel based image.
2. The learner will be able to define the acronym RGB.
3. The learner will be able to define the acronym CMYK.
4. The learner will know the difference between RGB and CMYK.
5. The learner will be able to explain the use for each of these Digital Image Formats: JPEG, TIFF, GIF and Raw images.

Session Chunk 1:

The difference between two types of digital images, Vector Based Images and Pixel Based images, is important for students to understand. By understanding the purpose between these types of images the learner will be able to more effectively determine the purpose of each type and when to use it.

Session Chunk 2:

Segment 2 of the lesson focuses on the differences between RGB photo formats versus CMYK photo formats. This segment will discuss why RGB is used for primarily web and why CMYK is used for printing.

Session Chunk 3:

4 Digital image file formats; JPEG, TIFF, GIF, and Raw images will be discussed in Segment 3. The lesson will teach the learner the meaning of each acronym, the history of its creation and the purpose for its use.
