Description of Lesson Content
The overall goal of this lesson is to help new transfer students at UCSD understand the Warren College general education requirements for transfer students. In addition, this lesson will help new transfer students understand the process of choosing classes at UCSD.
At the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:
- Select two classes that fulfill the Warren College general education requirements
- State two UCSD resources for choosing classes each quarter
- State three items to be aware of when enrolling in classes
- State the procedure for enrolling in classes
Each segment of the lesson will have corresponding PowerPoint slides to complement the instruction. The lesson will be structured as follows:
- Introduction – This section will briefly introduce UCSD and the six college system.
- Warren College GE’s – This section will introduce the Warren College general education requirements for transfer students. The transfer GE chart will be shown to students, and students will be given instruction on how to interpret the chart.
- UCSD Resources – Students will be shown the most common resources at UCSD that students use to choose classes.
- Enrolling in Classes – In this section, students will be taught the procedure for enrolling in classes using WebReg. In addition, the instructor will remind students of items to keep in mind when enrolling in classes.
- Scenario – Students will be given an example of a student, and will need to work together to state the classes the student should take to fulfill the Warren College general education requirements, and two items for the student to be mindful of when enrolling in classes.
