Louis Weiner- Instructional Design Strategies

My primary instructional design strategy will be constructivist learning. It can be assumed that most of the students taking this class will have some familiarity with social networking. While the instructor will provide the learners with a lot of new information, the learners will build upon their existing knowledge of social networking to better understand the content.

A number of poll questions will be used throughout the course so the learners will be able to get a better idea of what they know about social networking compared to others in the class.

Breakout sessions will give the learners a chance to talk about what they’ve learned so far and how what they learned.

Learners will be given research about how people across the nation use social networking sites. They will then have the opportunity to share with the class how they fit into the statistics.

Real-time chats will allow the students to weigh-in with questions as they feel necessary. Depending on the question, it could lead the instructor to pull away from his planned discussion and lead it more toward an area the learners want to know more about.
