My Adobe Connect class is titled “Social Networking and its Effects on Society.” Social networking has quickly become one of the most popular ways for people to communicate with each other. This class will look at the history of social networking and examine the different ways that society is adjusting to this high tech way of communication.
By the end of this class the learner will:
Know the history of social networking
Know the definition of social networking
Understand what a social network diagram is and why it’s important
Become familiar with social network analysis
Understand how people use social networks
Know the most popular social networking sites
Segment 1: History of social networking. This will go back to the 1800’s when it was first discovered that social networks could link individuals who shared the same values and beliefs
Segment 2: How social networking works. This will briefly touch on some of the topics I first discussed in Facilitation exercise 1.
Segment 3: Societal effects of social networking. This will look into how the development of social network sites has changed the way people communicate with each other.
Segment 4: Social network analysis. A look at what social network analysis is and why it’s important.
Segment 5: How people use social networks
Segment 6: The most popular social networking websites.
