Shamara Madrid - Storyboard
The PowerPoint slides will be the major means of instruction so I chose to give the share pod the largest amount of the room space. As I mentioned earlier, I believe the instructor audio and video pod can help students feel more connected to the course instructor and the attendee list can help students feel more closely associated. Therefore, these two pods were given a prominent display location in the upper-left and grouped together.
Wine-making is a very involved process and fitting the information into a 15 minute lesson requires only covering the basics. Therefore, I wanted to provide people with links to resources with more detailed information about the topics covered. The links pod will serve this purpose. But because it is intended for use after the lesson finishes, I placed this pod in the lower left-hand corner of the screen where people should not be distracted by the links during the session.
Originally, I was going to include the link to the video students will watch during the lesson at the top of the links pod. But I was concerned people would get confused, click on the wrong link, be unable to locate the video link, or start looking at the other links during the class session. So I decided to include a second links pod in the room layout specifically dedicated to the video link.
During Facilitation Exercise Part 1, I found it challenging to remember to check the chat pod for questions. My chat pod was relatively small for that session so I’m hoping that by making the pod larger I will be more likely to focus on that pod and notice the questions when they are typed.
