Table Manners - Instructional Design Strategies
Description of Instructional Design Strategies
Due to the time restraints of this session there were certain strategies used over others. Various questioning strategies were used including questions for knowledge, application and analysis. These are generally seen in the form of “quick quizzes.” One break-out session will be done to test prior knowledge, where they will list some general behaviors they already know. One way application will be tested is during the discussion period where we will have a new condiment flash on the screen and we will have an open discussion about how this one would be used, applying the similarities to condiments discussed in class.
The organization of the class was done utilizing transitions from each section. Each one had a subject that directed us to the next section. I wanted to have an apparent theme throughout the class and allow the students to be able to have a general understanding of manners as well as knowing specifics.
“Quick Quizzes” will be used as a form of assessment due to time constraints. I will utilize the “Poll” function in Adobe Connect to facilitate these.
This class will be highly synchronous. Students will be able to respond in real time using microphones or text. There will be a white-board feature that will allow for real time brainstorming.
